Each of these projects engaged the local community by providing public arts-related events that were both accessible and culturally relevant .
HAPEVILLE DÍA DE MUERTOS CELEBRATION 2020
This year's Día de Muertos Event, which shifted to follow COVID-19 safety and health guidelines, was held outdoors over the course of two days. Over 450 guests enjoyed live music, authentic arts, crafts, and cuisine from Latin American vendors, and an independent film festival, which featured 22 short films from 7 countries. This project was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the City of Hapeville and the Hapeville Main Street Board.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH EXHIBITION AND ART WALK 2020
The 2020 Inaugural Hapeville Black History Exhibition and Art Walk included work from 40 artists that celebrated the beauty diversity of the African diaspora. In addition to four public art galleries, festivities included special performances by Giwayen Mata African Dance Company; live jazz featuring the Edwin Williams Experience; "Pathways" starring Brenda Porter; and a special talk by Jane Gunther, who witnessed Rosa Parks' arrest in 1955. HAPEVILLE DÍA DE MUERTOS CELEBRATION 2019
Funded by the Hapeville Main Street Board and supported by local businesses and volunteers, this event included four free community maker events that culminated in a festive, family-friendly celebration and parade. Workshop participants learned about Day of the Dead and its origins while making traditional Mexican crafts. Parade attendees were then immersed in an interactive experience that included authentic Mexican food, music, and welcoming fellowship with their friends, neighbors and visitors.

ATLANTA CELEBRATES PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL 2019
Featuring the work of Crew Thick ATL, a local, all-black photography collective, this exhibition also included a photo walk and pin-up contest as community engagement components. Additional event festivities, funded by the Hapeville Main Street Board, included sunset yoga with Sanskrit Moon Yoga Center, food, and live music.
